BSSG was formed in 2002 by a stroke survivor for stroke survivors and their carers to support one another in post-stroke recovery management. Today it is one of the most active stroke support groups in Victoria and are 100+ members strong.

- – nurtures stroke survivors and their carers, helping them to cope with their life after stroke journey
- – provides a wide variety of activities to both stimulate neural pathways and effected limbs, to reduce stress and to promote friendship
